Plot summary: Karl Pilkington: Adventurer, Philosopher, Knob head; By Sept 2010, UK channel Sky1 started broadcasting a series of travel documentaries. In each episode Karl Pilkington, a radio producer, was sent to see one of the 7 Wonders of the Modern World: The Pyramids, Christ The Redeemer, The Taj Mahal, Chichen Itza, The Great Wall of China, Petra, and Macchu Picchu; Karl, being the typical Briton, doesn’t like to be taken out of his comfort zone. That, plus the practical -or not so practical- jokes of his friends Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant bring us loads of hilarious situations.
Mind that Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant are the people who created world-known TV series like The Office, The US Office, and Extras.
Opinion: Classed as a moron by his friends, Karl proves to be a brilliant, although a bit peculiar, chap; I hate to acknowledge this, but I share his obsession of using a clean and private toilet. As he would say “toilet time is me (my) time”.
Additional information: Although this series ended with Karl vowing he’d never do it again, as of April 2011, he was touring the world filming the new series of “An Idiot Abroad”.
